On 1 March 2024 - and after 14 years without any evolution in prices - an increase in prices for .lu operations will go into effect. Thanks to this, the registry for domain names with the national extension .lu – also managed by the Restena Foundation – intends to reduce the impact of the increasing cost base and ensure the stability and smooth operation of the .lu domain.
This evolution, which applies to all registrars accredited to offer .lu domain names, is passed on to in the rate applied by the Restena Foundation In its role as a .lu registrar.
The two management options offered by Restena – classic and online management – are impacted depending on their administrative feature. In either case, the change only applies to chargeable operations. The operations on a domain name which are not subject to pricing, as all the operations on DNS information and holders and contacts remain free of charge.

Fees as of 1 March 2024 for online management

Registering, renewing, trading, and transferring a domain name via the online management stand at €28 inclusive of tax per year (instead of €25 inclusive of tax), or €56 inclusive of tax for two years (instead of €50, inclusive of taxes).

Restoring a domain name stands at €78 inclusive of tax, including a one-year registration, (instead of €75,01 inclusive of tax).
All those operations – including renewal of domain names due to expire before 29 May 2024 – must be performed by the manager for 29 February 2024 at the latest to benefit from the prices before increase.

Registering, renewing, trading, transferring, and restoring a domain name via the classic management stand at:
- €45 inclusive of tax (instead of 40 €, inclusive of tax);
- €16,38 inclusive of tax, for eligible research and education institutions (instead of €14,04 inclusive of tax).
Any registration, trade, transfer, or restoration of a domain name performed before 29 February 2024 benefit from the prices before the increase. The same applies to the renewal of domain names expiring between 1 and 26 March 2024 since they will be invoiced in February 2024.
